Chief Executive Officer
Before coming to PrimeSource, Drew was the CEO of American Security, a manufacturer and seller of safes for both consumers and businesses. Prior to that he worked 11 years at Jacuzzi Group Worldwide, serving in several senior sales and marketing roles, including five years spent as President of the global spa business. In addition, he also held similar product marketing and commercial roles at Black & Decker and Newell Rubbermaid.
Drew has been married to his high school sweetheart for 26 years, and together they have two boys and one girl. He and his family are enjoying the Dallas area…although he maintains that, as an Ohio native, he will always root for Cleveland professional sports teams.
Chief Commercial Officer
Scott Smith joined PrimeSource in 1985. Currently serving as Chief Commercial Officer, Scott holds responsibility for National Accounts, including The Home Depot and Lowe’s sales and customer support teams, as well as the product management, brand marketing, data analytics, and training teams.
With over three decades of experience in the Building Products industry – all firmly entrenched with PrimeSource – Scott’s deep industry insights and an innate sensibility for brokering partnerships have contributed to success across sales, operations, marketing, product management and global supply chain leadership roles. Under his guidance, the three hallmark brands synonymous with PrimeSource Building Products were launched: Grip-Rite, the #1 preferred brand of fasteners amongst contractors, as well as the Pro-Twist brand of premium construction screws, and the innovative GRX Hand Protection line.
A graduate of Alfred University with a BS in Management and Marketing, Scott and his wife, Lisa, have two children – a boy and a girl. When not working, he enjoys boating and skiing in the Adirondacks.
Chief Procurement Officer
Jon joined Prime Source in 2023 bringing an extensive supply chain background focused on reducing costs, driving end-to-end supply chain efficiencies, supplier development, process improvement, and improving financial performance.
His background includes 20 years in supply chain leadership roles with both private equity backed and publicly traded companies, most recently leading organizations at American Trailer World (Bain Capital Private Equity), Overhead Door (Sanwa), and Newell Rubbermaid. During this time Jon was a key member of the merger and acquisition and divestiture teams that delivered shareholder value and seamless integration. Prior to transitioning into his supply chain career, Jon held progressive sales and marketing roles primarily in the metals sector, working for Ryerson, Kaiser Aluminum, and Reynolds Metals.
Jon earned his BA in Economics and minor in Business Administration from East Carolina University, and holds an Executive Certificate in Technology, Operations, and Value Chain Management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sloan School of Management. Outside of the office, he enjoys spending time with his wife and 2 daughters, charity work, attending sporting events, and playing golf.
Chief Supply Chain Officer
Cliff Engle joined PrimeSource Building Products as Chief Supply Chain Officer. With 25+ years’ experience in building and scaling complex supply chains, Cliff has led teams across a range of industries and companies including Amazon, Home Depot, Fender Musical, Incora, and PETsMart.
Cliff and his wife of 30+ years live in Dallas, TX. Their 4 daughters and son, having now left the nest, live throughout the US, with 2 of their children in DFW area. Cliff and his wife always look forward to spending as much time as they can with their 7 soon to be 8 grandchildren. Cliff is an avid outdoorsman and takes advantage of the great Texas fishing, hunting, and hiking.
Chief Financial Officer
John has a broad finance background focused on driving results, improving company financial performance, and creating value for corporate stakeholders.
His background includes 20+ years of financial, strategic, and operational finance experience in both corporate and professional advisory services roles across a variety of industries. He joined PrimeSource Building Products in 2018 and was part of the leadership team that created economic value and facilitated the transaction that led to successful financial exit for Platinum Equity and smooth transition to current owners, Clearlake Capital.
Prior to PrimeSource, John served as VP Finance at Borden Dairy where he was an integral part of the leadership team that executed a turnaround of the business, resulting in a successful sale of the company to ACON Investments and significant value realization for the private equity holders. Prior to Borden, John spent several years focused on performance improvement, corporate restructuring, and business advisory at Bain & Company, Alvarez & Marsal, and PwC.
John graduated with a double major in Finance and Organizational Behavior from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. When not at work, he enjoys spending time with his family, telling Dad jokes to his kids, traveling to new places, being outdoors, and walking the aisles of home improvement stores hoping to improve his DIY skills.
Chief People Officer
With over twenty years of human resources and culture-building experience, Chris brings a variety and depth of knowledge to his role as Chief People Officer.
Chris began his career as a civil defense attorney, transitioning into the corporate world working for one of the largest global insurance adjusting firms, Cunningham Lindsey, Inc. He led several corporate merger integrations there before joining Interstate Batteries in 2005 where over the next 15 years he worked with operational leaders to integrate multiple businesses and distribution locations into a purpose-driven, high performing culture. During Chris’ tenure there as Executive Vice President, Chief People and Corporate Affairs Officer, Interstate Batteries was recognized as a Dallas Morning News Best Place to Work for multiple years.
Chris earned a BA in Economics and Political Science, as well as a JD, at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three daughters, volunteering with the Salesmanship Club of Dallas, and teaching a leadership and coaching class at his alma mater.
Senior VP and Chief Legal Officer
Navin has practiced law for more than 20 years and currently serves as both Chief Legal Officer and Head of Real Estate for PrimeSource Brands.
Navin began his career as a corporate and securities attorney in Silicon Valley, working at two of the largest law firms in the Bay area. He transitioned to in-house counsel in 2006, relocating to Texas in the same year. Prior to PrimeSource, he most recently served as Co-Interim General Counsel, Corporate Secretary, and Chief Compliance Officer at The Michaels Companies, a large art and crafts retailer based in Irving. Additionally, he was on the Board of Directors for the Association of Corporate Counsel and the Texas State Bar’s Committee on Racial Diversity in the profession, receiving the TMCP Corporate Counsel of the Year award in 2019 for his efforts.
Navin is a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School and bleeds maize and blue accordingly. Outside of work, he enjoys traveling with his family and attending his kid’s many sporting and music events.
Chief Information Officer
Tim Michel joined PrimeSource Brands in 2018 as Chief Information Officer (CIO), responsible for Information Technology strategies, systems and platforms. As a business leader with expertise at global companies, Tim has successfully deployed enterprise software and major systems, infrastructure, services and operations. He has led the design and development of enterprise-wide systems at manufacturing and consumer products companies as well as in the R&D and consulting environments.
Prior to his current role he was Vice President and CIO at Chromalloy, leading IT operations in the U.S., Mexico, Europe, and Asia, producing cost savings through implementing enterprise-wide business systems and the design and implementation of customer and sales applications. Before that, he held leadership roles at Avantor Performance Materials, VWR International, MEI Inc. and Mars.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the West Chester State University of Pennsylvania.
EVP – Sales, Independents and Majors
David has spent over 29 years in various sales roles, with experience that spans across industries and channels. Before taking over his current position as EVP of Sales, Independent and Majors, he spent 16 years with the Black and Decker corporation where he served in National Accounts, Home Depot Field Sales Operations, and National Sales, before moving on to act as Vice President, Sales and Marketing, for BMS CAT.
When David first joined the PrimeSource team, he similarly served as the Vice President, Retail Services, for our National Accounts Team before assuming the responsibilities of his current position, which focuses on driving brand recognition in the professional construction market with customers servicing LBM, roofing, drywall, commercial, and fence categories
David earned his BA in Marketing from Texas Tech University and he is the proud dad of three children and one grandchild. Outside of the office, he enjoys spending time with his family, exercising, and attending sporting events.
EVP – Product & Marketing
Bill Wolter joined the PrimeSource team in 2015 as Director of Product Profitability. He was soon promoted to Vice President of Pricing and Business Analytics, where he helped develop our pricing function before moving on to his current role as EVP of Building Materials. Among many responsibilities, he oversees our BMG product management team while also working to grow our key third party vendor partnerships.
Prior to PrimeSource, Bill spent 12 years at PepsiCo Frito-Lay, serving in several financial leadership roles supporting sales, brand marketing, innovation, and operations. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Oklahoma and earned his MBA from the Neeley School of Business at Texas Christian University.
Bill’s wife Sarah is an elementary school teacher and together they have 3 children, daughter Courtney and twin boys Jacob and Ryan. On his off hours, Bill has a passion for barbeque and also enjoys exercising, fishing, and golfing.
Vice President, Marketing
In the blink of an eye, more than 20 years have elapsed since Allyson Horst graduated with a BS in Public Affairs from Indiana University. By launching her career calling on contractors at the job site as a DEWALT Power Tools/Stanley-Black & Decker field marketing specialist, marketing definitely made the leap from academia to the real world! From there, in product, brand, sales and marketing roles at Barrette Outdoor, Hoover, Dirt Devil, Oreck and Nautilus, Allyson built a tenure of domestic and international successes before joining PrimeSource Building Products in 2019.
As Vice President of Marketing, Allyson stewards the PSBP consumer brands portfolio – including Grip-Rite, Pro-Twist, Nationwide Industries and RailFX – while also creating and managing the PrimeSource Brands corporate entity as the business continues to grow both organically and through an aggressive acquisition strategy.
Known for leadership, integrity and compassion while building business in the private, public and PE sectors, Allyson feeds a creative and competitive spirit by cheering on her two boys, alongside her husband, at football, baseball and lacrosse games throughout the year. Perennial gardening brings joy to downtime and culinary pursuits sometimes delight (though sometimes not) aforementioned family…with a secret hope to land on and leave triumphantly from the “Beat Bobby Flay” show on the Food Network.
